Ajazz AK820 Pro – A review of a surprisingly good Chinese

The keyboard market seems to be bursting at the seams. There are so many models that it is difficult to count them all, wireless, wired, with or without hotswap and so on. Manufacturers are basically left with only a price battle, after all, it is difficult to innovate here. Hence, today I’m dealing with another proposal at a lower price ceiling, on top of that from our Chinese friends – Ajazz AK820 Pro. Feel free to visit

A word of introduction

This model looks quite standard at first glance. Well, and there is nothing surprising in this, in terms of external appearance it is difficult to surprise with something here. The copy that reached me has keycaps in white, purple and blue colors. So it presents itself well and does not raise any objections. Also on board was RGB, full hotswap or wireless connectivity in two ways. Interestingly, a TFT display is also present, from which this keyboard can be managed.

Construction and performance of the Ajazz AK820 Pro

What positively surprised me was the build quality. The keyboard is rigid and heavy. There are no backlash, crevices or other undesirable elements. Everything fits together perfectly, which is quite rare in this price shelf. The case is, of course, made of plastic, which is hardly surprising. The plastic itself has a rough surface, so it does not collect fingerprints. The roll for volume control and display operation is metal. The mount plate is also made of plastic. The keycaps are also unobjectionable, being made of PBT, of course, and the font printed on them is neat.

On the bottom, the manufacturer placed a mode switch (BT-2.4 GHz-USB) and a switch between MAC and Windows. A bit strange placement, you need to lift the keyboard to use these switches. Besides, two-stage angle adjustment feet are also present.

The switches used in the copy I tested are Ajazz Gift Switch, in fact they are switches manufactured by Huano. Their characteristics are linear, the pressure force required for activation is about 45 grams. For detailed specifications, I refer you to the manufacturer’s website. The switches themselves are very smooth and smooth, working on them is extremely pleasant. In addition, they are quiet. What’s more, they are lubricated by default. The whole thing is complemented by surprisingly good stabilizers with factory lubrication. I’ve included a sound test below.

Functionality and software

And the functionality of the keyboard stands at a fairly high level. Both bluetooth and 2.4 GHz radio connectivity work flawlessly. I tested the keyboard with both a tablet on BT and a computer on 2.4. The operation of the display is also not objectionable, the roller functionality is changed by pressing FN + roller. One option operates the display while the other is volume control. From the screen we can change the backlighting including color and effects, change the system volume or the language displayed on the screen (Chinese or English). Interestingly, it is also possible to upload gifs. The effects are quite smooth.

The backlighting that the Ajazz AK820 Pro has is full spot RGB. It presents itself perfectly, the colors are vivid and very bright. Keycaps, admittedly, do not transmit light, but this does not prevent the whole thing from looking good. The white color falls into a glow of pink color, but this is not a defect, just a peculiarity of RGB LEDs.

Software is simultaneously an advantage and a disadvantage. I already explain why. Namely, it is very extensive, a lot of options for configuring the backlight, programming the keys or changing the display. However, it does not work in wireless mode, unfortunately it is necessary to connect a cable to use it. A pity.
