The next series of processors on the AM5 platform are coming our way in a big way. The first information about the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F CPUs is already starting to circulate on the web. These will be CPUs without iGPUs, as indicated by the “F” designation. You can also expect attractive prices for these chips. Below you will find out how these chips perform in tests presented by AMD.
AMD Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F – Cheap and powerful?
The introduction of the AM5 platform to the PC market has resonated with consumers. It introduced new solutions and increased demand for processors from the red range. Initially, ordinary models appeared (without any additional markings). In time, however, processors marked with the letter “F” appeared in the 7000 series. They were distinguished by a much lower price, slightly lower clock rates and the lack of an integrated graphics card. This was an ideal option for people who wanted to assemble a gaming PC that would be cheap and powerful, while still having a separate GPU. Watching the current information leaks, we learned that AMD is also preparing the same processors in the latest 8000 series. Previously, the reds offered us only the Ryzen 5 7500F, but now it will be both Ryzen 5 8400f and Ryzen 7 8700F. So we will get two models without an integrated graphics card, which will give consumers, especially gamers, a wider range of options.
How do the specifications of Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F look like on paper?
Here, it must be said that AMD keeps the power consumption at a reasonable 65 W TDP all the time. The price will also be attractive. For the Ryzen 5 8400F it is about $169.00(Newegg), and for the Ryzen 7 8700F it is about $269.00(Newegg). Only the prices in Polish distribution remain under question. As for the 8400F, it will get 6 cores and 12 threads at 4.2 GHz with boost to 4.7 GHz. It will feature 22 MB of cache memory. As for the 8700F, we already get 8 cores and 16 threads at 4.2 GHz clocking and boost to 5.1 GHz. Here the cache memory will be 24 MB. The Ryzen 5 8400F can be described as a competitor to the Intel i5-13400f processor. Currently, it performs slightly weaker in games, so there are no miracles, but you have to wait until it gets into the hands of testers. The Ryzen 7 8700F, on the other hand, presents itself as a successor to the Intel i5-14400F, as it is theoretically several percent more powerful than it.

Leaked slides from processor presentations
The new Red processors look decent. It will definitely be a cheap and efficient option, which will appeal to many people opting for the AM5 platform. Already the Ryzen 5 7500F alone showed us what a good morsel it is. It worked perfectly for people who wanted a platform for expansion, while maintaining reasonable FPS in games and a decent price. Personally, I hope that in the Polish market, they will be cheaper fairly soon, which will be a hit when building new computers for gaming and amateur play.
