Over the past few years, Razer has significantly improved the quality of its products and has gathered quite a following. They have created a number of good series of their products, and the best they have done, in my opinion, is with mice. My attention was caught by one of the latest mice, which I decided to buy. I tested it, looked at all the technical aspects. Ahead of you is a review of the Razer Deathadder V3.
Many people who own these mice say they are very happy with it. With each successive Deathadder’s debut, many things have changed, but are we sure that the model V3 is worthy of purchase? Due to the fact that I recently acquired this rodent and am personally also a fan of these mice, I will answer this question.

Razer Deathadder V3 design review

Compared to previous models, the look and shape of the Deathadder V3 has changed dramatically. Between the first mice in the series and the V2 version, Razer didn’t change much, but for the V3 they decided to take a different path. We get a completely different glimpse of the latest release from the collection of these mice. As a person who has had more than one deathadder in his hands, I feel the difference in the use of this mouse, but the sheer process of getting used to it after the switch did not take long.

We get a well-profiled mouse for claw and palm grip, although the aerodynamics and design itself has experienced quite a few changes. The most striking differences are the lack of backlighting, and the buttons. Razer has done away with backlighting altogether. The logo itself on the mouse in the black version is very faintly visible. The main buttons of the mouse have also received quite a change. Not only are they separated from the rest of the body, but they don’t have any indentations for our fingertips. In earlier models, the buttons were connected to the whole lump into one plastic, and on the outer sides they had a convex rounded shape and slightly protruded beyond the design.

The location of the button for changing the DPI has also changed, and it has been moved to the bottom of the mouse. So when we need to change the sensitivity of the mouse, we have to specifically lift and rotate it. As for the side buttons, they are slightly smaller in size and arranged in a less curved line compared to the V2, so you get more room for your thumb.

It should also be taken into account that the Razer Deathadder V3 dispenses with any rubberization under the fingers. So there is no risk that anything will start to peel off after time, as happened to me in the older Elite model of the series. Virtually no deterioration of comfort in any way. The thumb and little finger hold firmly to the entire body of the mouse, so I can’t consider the lack of rubberization a disadvantage. As for the scroller, it is tilted noticeably more upward.

Workmanship

Here you have to admit one thing – Razer has incredibly improved the quality of most of their products. I still remember a few years ago, how many people complained about their products, that failure, that poor plastic, etc. Nowadays I don’t see any reason to have a sore point in this regard. The cable is fairly flexible in a loose cord which is terminated with a long, quite thick rubber. There is virtually no way here that there will be problems with the cable snapping off, as was often the case with many rodents in the past. The scroll itself and all the buttons are held solidly in place. As for the plastic, I get the impression that any abrasion and the phenomenon of shiny plastic will not soon appear. When squeezed much harder, nothing moves too much, and nothing shoots. The plastic itself is a smooth texture.

Specifications – sensor, switches, weight, sliders

So let’s move on to, as it were, the most important issue. As for the sensor, Razer has used its proprietary Razer Focus Pro 30k optical sensor. The manufacturer flatters itself that its accuracy is 99.8%, where, to have a reference, many other sensors maintain a level about 0.3-0.4 percentage units lower. The Deathadder V3 allows us to adjust the DPI up to 30,000. Quite nicely, we can adjust the polling rate from 125 to 8000 Hz. This is the unit that determines how many times per second the computer gets information about the cursor position. As for the switches, there are also Razer’s proprietary third-generation optical under the buttons, with a durability of up to 90 million clicks. Such a specification provides us with fast response times. There are no issues here with smoothness, responsiveness, performance or the once common double-click. As for their volume level, they are nevertheless quite loud, which is the biggest drawback here.

Razer also decided to take care of the low weight of the mouse, as it is only 59 grams (although the mouse itself without the cable reaches a weight of less than 56 grams). This parameter has become an important aspect in mice some time ago. Nevertheless, operating a heavy mouse in more dynamic games can be quite cumbersome. Moving on to the sliders, they are made of decent material, namely PTFE Teflon. Thanks to this, the mouse copes well with a wide variety of mousepads and is comfortable to operate.

Razer Deathadder V3 software

The razer soft itself is quite transparent and sufficiently refined. You can connect multiple devices to it at once, which gives you added convenience. As you can see in the attached images, the user is able to assign various actions under the buttons (In addition to the left mouse button). The second tab is responsible for setting profiles for changing DPI and polling rate. In the last page it is possible to calibrate our mouse with the mouse pad, a rather unnecessary option for most people. As you can see, the software is basically not needed by the ordinary user. All you need to do is adjust the DPI and polling rate for yourself and you don’t need to look there again, unless someone binaries additional button functionality.

To sum up

The Deathadder series has already received my appreciation from the beginning. I consider, and I think that for a long time to come I will consider these mice to be among the best. And it’s not just about the specifications. The very shape that this mouse offers fits perfectly into my preferences. If your grip is palm or claw, then I strongly encourage you to try this mouse or its brother in the wireless version.

Speaking of the wired version, Razer has offered us dare I say something amazing. This rodent not only comes at an attractive price (about 270zl on Amazon), but its specification is at a very high level. Practically everything here is in its place and forms a sensible whole. Personally, I only miss the backlighting and the button to change the DPI on top like in the V2 model. Nonetheless, I am convinced that Deathadders will stay on my desk for a very long time. Especially considering how many mice I’ve held in my hand, none have been so perfect. I hope that this Razer Deathadder V3 review will have a not inconsiderable influence on your final choice of a rodent.
