Mark Zuckerberg has once again criticized Apple’s Vision Pro goggles. He claims that his Quest 3 goggles are a much better alternative and gives arguments that hit Apple right in the face.
One of the analysts, Bendict Evans, stated in a post on the Threads platform that Meta wants to reach the technological level of Apple Vision Pro in about 3-5 years. He added that Apple sells a lot of augmented reality goggles. Meta wants to reach a similar level of sales in the next few years with competitive prices.
Met’s CEO has a different take on the subject
A response from Mark Zuckerberg himself appeared under the analyst’s post. He believes that Quest 3 is a better solution than Apple Vision Pro. He noted that if their goggles have a similar weight to a competing product, motion blur or lack of precise input, it will be a regression. Mark also added that Apple had to give up a lot of facilities to be able to guarantee a higher resolution than Quest 3.
Pushback on Zuckerberg’s platform
Evans charged Zuckerberg that the higher resolution of Apple’s goggles makes it possible to offer more than just gaming. The Met CEO responded that the most popular apps installed on the Quest 3 are social apps. He added that higher resolution cannot be an excuse for poor ergonomics and motion blur.
Quest 3 better goggles than Apple’s proposal?
Currently, the Quest 3 as well as the Vision Pro have pancake lenses. However, the Met’s product features LCD displays with a resolution of 2064×2208 and a frequency of 120 Hz, while the Vision Pro has a resolution of 2160×3840 pixels.
Of the additional features, Apple’s product offers hand tracking and additional Touch Plus controllers. On the other hand, when it comes to weight, as mentioned by the gentlemen on the Threads platform, here we have the advantage of Meta’s solution. This manufacturer’s goggles weigh 513 grams, while the competitor’s product weighs 650 grams.
It should be noted here that the price of the Vision Pro, as befits Apple, is $3499, while its counterpart is only $499.
